Jean and Jack Duncan Receive Outstanding Volunteer Award
Sacramento County Honors Active Seniors during Older Americans Month

Jean and Jack Duncan

Jean and Jack Duncan, long-time Citrus Heights residents and supporters, were honored as some of the County’s 2010 Outstanding Senior Volunteers at a recent Sacramento County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Each year during Older Americans Month, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors and the Sacramento County Adult and Aging Commission join together to recognize outstanding senior volunteers who are nominated by senior and neighborhood centers and other agencies.

Well-known for their community involvement, Jean and Jack Duncan belong to service clubs that promote improvements in the lives of hundreds locally and thousands worldwide. The couple has extended their personal resources and energy to many local events like the annual parade and park district benefits. They were tireless in their efforts to work for more than a decade to bring cityhood to Citrus Heights.

And on their own, they have unselfishly contributed and supported projects and those in need, without thought to accolades or acknowledgments. Their nomination for the 2010 Senior Volunteers honor was enthusiastically submitted and endorsed by elected officials, government leaders, community organizations, businesses, and many community members.

The other outstanding 2010 Senior Volunteers and the agencies that nominated them are Helen Blatta, Mission Oaks Community Center; Thomas Chan, Asian Community Center; Dottie Frincke, California Emergency Foodlink; Galt Brown Bag Volunteer Team, South County Services; Wilma Keith, Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center Senior Programs; Norma Kohout, Hart Senior Center; Bonnie Penrose, Cordova Senior Activities Center; and Mary Strong, Senior Center of Elk Grove.
