A VFW member hands a red poppy to a woman on Veterans Day.

FAIR OAKS, CA (MPG) - On this Veterans Day, November 11, 2023, Veterans of Foreign Wars volunteers gave of their hearts and time to distribute red poppies in the hopes of reminding people about the sacrifices and love of country our fallen veterans gave to protect us.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6158, Fair Oaks, staffed a booth in front of the Ace Hardware store, Madison Avenue, Fair Oaks, as well as other locations, distributing free poppies. 

The sentiment of love and respect for our veterans was touching.

The memorial poppies were free, given as a remembrance of our fallen.

People from all walks of life gave their respect. Some gave donations to help our veterans and their families in need.
