ORANGEVALE, CA (MPG) - Have you heard the news? Ali Aguilar, a Casa Roble 2013 graduate, won silver earlier this month in Tokyo!
Orangevale is beyond proud to have Ali Aguilar, represent Team USA in Women’s softball. Ali started playing Orangevale girls softball back when she was seven years old and hasn’t stopped! From Casa Roble High School playing both competitive and on the school team, to the University of Washington, Ali’s passion and competitive spirit has taken her to the highest level of competition on the world stage.
“Watching her was awesome”, said proud sister Jacquelyn Aguilar, “I love her humility in everything that she accomplishes.”
With a focus of giving glory to God in all that she does, Ali’s list of accolades is impressive including: All American Seattle Sports Star of the Year, Two Time Pan American Championship Gold Medalist, First Team All-PAC 12 and Academic All-PAC 12 and playing professionally both in the US and Japan to name a few!
According to Jacquelyn the trip to Japan for the Olympics was even more special as their grandmother’s family roots are from Japan making this “near and dear to Ali’s heart”.
If you watched the games, team USA played six games total, finishing the final against Japan with a 2 - 0 loss in a mostly scoreless game until Japan took the lead.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned about softball is that “it’s not over, until it’s over,” said Jacquelyn.
Like the game leading into the final against Japan, it could have gone either way and the family, friends and fans are proud of the team winning silver.
Besides being humbled and honored to represent team USA, Ali said this about softball, “You never have it. There’s always something to improve on because the game is so hard. I love the team aspect.”
Congratulations to Ali and her teammates for a job well done!
