ORANGEVALE, CA (MPG) - Roll the drum sticks please! The 3rd Annual Turkey Bowl at Grocery Outlet was a smashing success! Community leaders and business owners came together to raise funds helping to feed 500 families in need this holiday season! The year’s effort exceeded all previous years, bringing in a record $10k! All proceeds will go to the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank.

“Without a doubt this community is the best,” said Chris and Jenifer Daniels of Grocery Outlet, “when there’s a call to help, they not only step up, but do it in a big way.”

According to Andrea Scollay, Executive Director of the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank, the demand for food has gone up 65 percent over the past few months with more low-income seniors, and families with children, struggling to keep food on the table.

The annual event has become a favorite holiday FUNraiser, bringing teams together to compete by bowling a turkey down the frozen food aisle of the Orangevale Grocery Outlet. The competition was emceed by host Michael Povey who introduced and entertained the crowd along with this year’s newly added referee Keith Wright, who didn’t hesitate to throw a flag when someone crossed the line or engaged in unnecessary roughness! The puns were flying as much as the turkeys, all in fun as teams did their best to knock down enough pins to advance in the competition.

For the second year in a row, Moore’s Garage Gravy Train made it to the championship round along with first time finalist Orangevale Water Cheese Ballers who pulled off an upset and captured the title as Turkey Bowl Champions 2022. Honorable mention went to the Shadow Glen “Turkey Wranglers” who tied for third with LMS Garage Doors “Turkey’s on Strike”.
