ARC Celebrates 70 Years with Homecoming

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - American River College will mark 70 years of learning, leadership and community this fall with Homecoming Week 2025, a weeklong celebration taking place Oct. 25 through Nov. 1.

Themed “You Belong Here: ReDiscover ARC,” the celebration invites students, alumni, employees and community members to reconnect and rediscover the spirit, history and traditions that have made ARC a cornerstone of the Sacramento region for seven decades.

Daily events across campus will highlight the college’s culture of inclusion and community. The festivities will culminate Nov. 1 with the Homecoming Game and Spirit Fest, featuring a pregame celebration and the ARC Beavers football team facing the Santa Rosa Bear Cubs at 1 p.m.

The three-hour pregame Spirit Fest will begin at 10 a.m. in the Beaver Stadium parking lot and will include performances, food, activities and plenty of Beaver Pride. Attendees are encouraged to wear red and blue, donate to the Beaver Cares food pantry and join in the celebration of ARC’s 70 years of excellence in education, service and community engagement.

Homecoming Week will kick off Oct. 25 with Center Stage: Amélie at the ARC Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be followed by a matinee showing Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.

On Oct. 27, the college will host Bucky Day: Kickoff and Spirit Launch beginning at 10 a.m. in the Student Center. The event will feature coffee and treats, Bucky’s Belonging Wall, and the launch of a campus-wide scavenger hunt and passport activity that will continue throughout the week.

Oct. 28 will highlight Beavers Care: Resources, Community and Culture, beginning with Chalk the Walk at 9 a.m. in the Diane Bryant STEM Innovation Center Quad. A resource fair will follow at 10 a.m. in the same location, offering information about student and community support services. The day will also include a Día de los Muertos celebration at 10 a.m. in the Student Center and a men’s soccer game honoring Latinx Heritage at 3 p.m. in the soccer stadium.

On Oct. 29, Beavers Build: Skills, Creativity and Opportunity will showcase career technical education demonstrations in various CTE areas and a “College Isn’t Scary” session at noon at ARC Natomas Center, located at 2421 Del Paso Road. At 2:30 p.m., students can participate in Clay Creations, followed by a performance from ARC Mariachi Los Rios at 7:30 p.m. in the ARC Theatre.

Oct. 30 will celebrate Dam Proud Day: Wellness, Pride and Community. Events will include the ARC Wellness Walk at 10 a.m. beginning at the library, the BUZZ Native Bee Project Spotlight at 10:30 a.m. in the Student Center, and a horticulture floral sale starting at 10 a.m. The day will conclude with an instrumental jazz concert at 7:30 p.m. in the ARC Theatre.

On Oct. 31, the college will honor its faculty and staff during Dam Fam: Appreciation Day. An employee appreciation celebration will take place at 9 a.m. in the Community Rooms, followed by a women’s soccer game celebrating women in sports at 6 p.m. in the soccer stadium.

The weeklong celebration will wrap up Nov. 1 with Homecoming Game and Spirit Fest at Beaver Stadium. Spirit Fest will open at 10 a.m. and feature performances, food, games and plenty of Beaver spirit leading up to kickoff at 1 p.m., when the ARC Beavers football team takes on Santa Rosa Junior College.
