Defendant Convicted of Shooting, Murdering Ex-Wife

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Brian Christiansen was convicted by a jury of second-degree murder. The jury also found true allegations that Christiansen used a firearm to cause death and that he took advantage of a position of trust.
Christiansen and his ex-wife, Alma Christiansen, had a history of family violence. On May 7, 2023, Sacramento police officers responded to Christiansen’s home after he reported that he shot his ex-wife six times. Officers located the victim deceased in the backyard. Christiansen admitted to law enforcement that he shot the unarmed victim during a physical altercation.
Christiansen faces a maximum sentence of 40 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for January 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 26 before the Honorable Benjamin Galloway.
