SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Assemblyman Josh Hoover (R-Folsom) announced he has named Stuart McIntyre of Fair Oaks as the 2025 Veteran of the Year for California’s 7th Assembly District.

A true American hero, McIntyre’s story embodies courage, service and an enduring love for country. Born and raised in Walla Walla, Washington, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at just 16 years old, following the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. After completing his initial service, McIntyre reenlisted during the Korean War, later serving in Germany and dedicating 28 total years to our nation’s defense.

Now a beloved Fair Oaks resident, McIntyre celebrated his 100th birthday this past August at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6158, surrounded by family, friends and community members. District 7 Assemblyman Hoover had the honor of joining the celebration to personally thank McIntyre for his decades of service and lifelong patriotism.

For many years, McIntyre has proudly displayed American flags along Eastern Avenue every Fourth of July, a tradition that has inspired neighbors and reminded the community of the values he fought to protect.

Outside of his military career, McIntyre is also an avid golfer, famously shooting his age at 86, and the publisher of his father’s book, “The Last Grand Roundup,” an eyewitness account of the great horse roundups in early 20th-century Washington.

“Stuart represents the best of our community and the very best of America. It’s an honor to celebrate his service, his life and his continued contributions to Fair Oaks and our country,” Assemblyman Hoover said. “Please join me in congratulating Stuart McIntyre as our 2025 Veteran of the Year for his extraordinary dedication to duty, community and country.”
