SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) - January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and SacRT is proud to join forces with local law enforcement and nonprofit partners to shine a light on this critical issue. Through a powerful public awareness campaign, we’re using our transit system to help protect vulnerable individuals, connect survivors to resources, and educate the community.
Campaign highlights include placing multilingual bus shelter ads, with campaign posters in English, Spanish, Hmong, Vietnamese, Arabic, Farsi and more in communities most at risk.
SacRT is distributing informational cards and adding posters to buses and trains to help riders recognize the signs of trafficking and know where to turn for help. Riders can also report a possible Human Trafficking incident on the Alert SacRT App.
SacRT partners are working together to reach survivors, educate the public and provide trauma-informed support.
On Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, SacRT and partners will hold a press conference to launch the campaign and share how they are working together to fight human trafficking in the Sacramento region.
SacRT partners include Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, WEAVE (Women Escaping a Violent Environment) and Soroptimist International of Elk Grove.
