Local Women Business Owners Honored at NAWBO Gala

SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) – The Sacramento Valley Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) hosted the 30th Annual Outstanding Women Leaders (OWL) Awards Gala on March 7 at the Sheraton Grand in downtown Sacramento.

For three decades, the OWL Gala has honored and celebrated the top achievers among women entrepreneurs, along with corporate, government and community leaders who have advanced the status of women in our region.

"The OWL Gala represents what NAWBO stands for – celebrating achievement, fostering connection and empowering the next generation of women leaders," said Christina Dixon, board president of NAWBO Sacramento Valley. "Our 30th anniversary event is a powerful reminder of how far we've come and the limitless potential ahead.”  

KFBK news anchor Kitty O’Neal returned for her 30th time as host of this elegant evening, designed to support women business leaders past, present and future.

2026 Outstanding Women Leader (OWL) Categories and Finalists:

Leslie Bosseman, co-founder/owner/preschool director, The Makers Place/Lead with Intention took home the Woman Innovator Award, which recognizes a trailblazer in her field in innovation and industry advancement.

The Woman in Public Service Award, which Honors a woman serving in a government or public service role (elected or appointed) who demonstrates exemplary leadership and advocates for positive change for women in business went to Senator Anquelique Ashby, who was not present at the gala.

The Executive Woman Award which honors an executive-level professional with no ownership interest who demonstrates exceptional leadership and community involvement went to American River College President Dr. Lisa Cardoza.

Lisa Culp, executive director, Women's Empowerment took home the Impact Award, which celebrates a woman leader who has made a demonstrated impact on the economic advancement of women in the region.

The Woman on the Way Award, which honors a businesswoman in operation for less than five years showing strong potential for sustained growth and leadership went to Lydia Belaski, owner, charQterie.

The Wise Woman Award, which acknowledges a woman business owner with 10-plus years of success and leadership in her industry went to Allison Otto, president and CEO, Otto Construction.

The Rising Star Award which recognizes an outstanding young woman in high school or college who demonstrates leadership, initiative and potential to make a lasting impact in business, community or public service went to Lyrik Robinson, Visions in Educations Charter School.
