ORANGEVALE, CA (MPG) - One of Orangevale’s favorite summer traditions is back, bigger than ever and still supporting a great local cause.

Helping Hands OV invites the community to its 5th Annual Salsa Cook Off on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Orangevale Grange, 5807 Walnut Ave., Orangevale. This family-friendly celebration promises a day packed with flavor, entertainment, shopping and community spirit.

Attendees will have the opportunity to taste over 30 salsa entries and cast their votes to help crown the best salsa in town. Whether you love mild, hot, chunky, blended, or something in between, there will be plenty of delicious options to enjoy.

The fun doesn't stop with salsa. Guests can enjoy live entertainment from The Schwamigos, Los Sauguaritos and OVFO Arts, explore more than 50 local vendors and crafters, visit food trucks and enjoy the beer and margarita garden for guests 21 and older.

Adding to the excitement, celebrity judges will be on hand, including Mark S. Allen of ABC10, Doug Lazy of Mix 96 and NOW 100.5, professional UFC fighter Max “Pain” Griffin, MaryAnne Povey of OV Live, Chrysti Tovani of I Love Fair Oaks and Fair Oaks Honorary Mayor Noah Wright.

Tickets are just $8 through Aug. 13. After that date, prices increase and tickets will only be available at the door. VIP and Family Pack tickets are available exclusively online through Aug. 13 or while supplies last. Tickets can be purchased at helpinghandsov.org under the Events tab.

While the event is known for bringing together friends, families, neighbors and local businesses for a day of fun, it also serves a bigger purpose. The Salsa Cook Off is Helping Hands OV’s largest fundraiser of the year and helps fund programs that assist local seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities and families in need through small household jobs and community outreach programs.
