FAIR OAKS, CA (MPG) – The 21st annual Fair Oaks Chicken Festival drew hundreds of attendees to Fair Oaks Park Sept. 19. Live music by All Hat No Cattle and Sunset River at the Chickenstock Stage were the soundtrack to a day full of chicken-themed contests, costumes, food trucks, beer and wine, Rocky’s Roost kid’s zone and more.

During the Cluck n' Crow Contest, 10 participants had the opportunity to show off their best bawk. One participant took their moment on stage to propose to their partner in the audience, who accepted the proposal. Also new this year was the Egg Drop competition presented by Fair Oaks Preschool and Fair Oaks Arborist.

Food trucks presented by SactoMoFo included Jojo’s Hawaiian Fried Chicken, Pancho Villa BBQ, California Street Tacos and Smokin’ Ewe BBQ, which served up generously portioned barbeque plates and a delicious, loaded chicken mac.

Presented by the Rotary Club of Fair Oaks, the Watering Hole (beer and wine) offered drink tickets supporting local breweries and wineries including River City Brewing (Carmichael), Movement Brewing Company (Rancho Cordova) and more.

There was no shortage of craft vendors selling everything from jewelry to handmade leather goods to paintings. Community informational vendors included the Fair Oaks Parks and Recreation District, legislative representatives including Senator Roger Niello and Metro Fire’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).

SMUD gave away chicken hats which were sported by attendees of all ages.

Kids took part in the Kid's Cluck n’ Crow Contest presented by Kiwanis Club of Orangevale - Fair Oaks, petting zoo presented by Shadow Glen Riding Stables, activity booths and carnival games.

Bella Vista High School band and cheer took the stage to perform popular hits for all ages.

As the day heated up, attendees grabbed refreshing lemonades and beers and continued taking in all the day had to offer.
