FAIR OAKS, CA (MPG) – The Fair Oaks Cemetery District invites the community to join them for a special evening of remembrance, reflection and celebration at “Light Up the Cemetery” on Nov. 5, starting at 4 p.m.

The evening will begin with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony marking 100 years of service as a Special District. This milestone celebrates a century of service to families and the Fair Oaks community, making it a meaningful part of this year's event.

As the evening continues, the cemetery will begin to glow with lights placed throughout the grounds. Tea lights will be placed on graves in honor and memory of loved ones, creating a beautiful display of remembrance as the sun goes down. Lights will also be hung throughout the cemetery, transforming the grounds into a warm and peaceful setting for the community to enjoy.

Guests will be invited to take a moment to remember someone special. Those who wish to do so can share memories or stories about their loved ones, creating a space to celebrate and share those memories with others.

While the event centers on remembrance, everyone is welcome. You do not need to have a loved one buried at Fair Oaks Cemetery to attend. The evening is open to the entire community and offers neighbors, friends and families a chance to come together.

Guests can enjoy free hot chocolate and s’mores while visiting with others and taking in the lights throughout the cemetery.

The holiday season can be a difficult time for those who have lost someone they love. “Light Up the Cemetery” offers a gentle reminder that although our loved ones may no longer be with us, their memories continue to shine.

The Fair Oaks Cemetery District hopes this event will remain a cherished community tradition – a night when light represents love, memories, and the enduring connections we share with those who came before us.

Come share a cup of hot chocolate, enjoy some s’mores, walk among the lights, and celebrate the people and memories that continue to brighten our lives.
