SACRAMENTO REGION, CA (MPG) - Planning for the 2027-28 school year? Mark your calendar! San Juan Unified is moving up its enrollment timeline, and families can begin enrolling new students for the 2027-28 school year starting Monday, Nov. 2, instead of the traditional February opening.

This earlier enrollment period gives families more time to plan for the upcoming school year.

What's the difference between enrollment and open enrollment?

Enrollment is for students who are new to San Juan Unified, including children entering transitional kindergarten (TK) or kindergarten, who plan to attend their neighborhood school. Enrollment opens Nov. 2.

Open enrollment is for families who would like their child to attend a San Juan Unified school other than their assigned neighborhood school. Open Enrollment is a separate application process with its own timeline and requirements. Open enrollment begins Dec. 7.

Not sure which school is your neighborhood school? Use the San Juan Unified School Site Locator tool to identify your assigned school based on your home address: https://www.schoolsitelocator.com/apps/sanjuan/

San Juan Unified encourages families to explore their school options and prepare for the upcoming school year.
